Choose the day you actually want

A beach trip from Reunion is a day out rather than a quick poolside detour. Compare the full round trip, likely traffic, parking and the facilities your party needs. Decide whether the priority is a relaxed beach day, a waterfront meal or combining the coast with another visit.

Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic and Clearwater on the Gulf are candidates to compare. Neither should be selected solely from an optimistic driving estimate. Check the live route to a specific public access point and confirm current local conditions.

Anna Maria Island: make a day of it

For a Gulf Coast day with time on the sand and a leisurely lunch, Anna Maria Island is one of our recommendations. Choose a single part of the island as your base rather than spending the afternoon moving the car. Manatee Beach is worth comparing for a family outing; Coquina Beach pairs well with a separate stop around Bridge Street for food and shops.

At the northern end, consider Anna Maria Beach and a stroll along Pine Avenue. Keep the plan simple: beach first, lunch when everyone is hungry, then decide whether you have the energy for another stop. A sunset finish can be lovely, but it also means a later drive back to Reunion. Agree that trade-off with your group before setting out.

Use the Bradenton Area’s official beach guide to compare access points and facilities. Check current parking rules and beach conditions before leaving. Allow for bridge traffic and a busy arrival, especially on weekends; a route to the island is not the same as a route to an available parking space.

Clearwater Beach: for a beach-town day

Clearwater is another Gulf Coast option when you want to combine the beach with a meal and time around town. Pick your parking destination before leaving Reunion, budget for the full stay and keep the return journey flexible. Consult Clearwater’s official beach-parking information for current locations and restrictions rather than relying on an old parking price.

Pass-a-Grille: a smaller beach-town setting

At the southern end of St. Pete Beach, Pass-a-Grille offers another way to spend a Gulf Coast day. We would choose it for a beach walk, lunch and an unhurried afternoon rather than trying to fit several coastal towns into one trip. Parking can be more difficult on weekends, so plan an early arrival and check the official Pass-a-Grille visitor guide before travelling.

Gulf or Atlantic? Keep the whole group in mind

Choose Anna Maria Island for an island outing, Clearwater for a beach-town day, or Pass-a-Grille for a smaller coastal setting. Cocoa Beach and Canaveral remain Atlantic alternatives. Compare live routes from your actual Reunion home to the beach access you choose; traffic and parking can matter as much as mileage. No coast guarantees calm water or good weather, so check local conditions on the day.

If someone else will drive, use our private transport planning guide to discuss a full-day vehicle, waiting time and room for beach gear. Keep a rainy-day alternative in reserve, and leave dinner at your Reunion vacation home flexible after the return journey.

Plan for the practicalities

Research toilets, showers, shade, parking payment and access from the car. Pack water, sun protection, towels and a change of clothes. If hiring beach equipment, check availability and return times.

Follow local beach flags, posted guidance and weather information. Choose an appropriate swimming area and supervise children; the presence of other visitors is not a safety assessment.

Leave a comfortable journey home

An early departure can help you enjoy the day without needing a late return. Be realistic about combining multiple destinations. A beach and a major attraction in one day may leave less time to enjoy either.

For private transport, agree the waiting arrangements, return time and capacity for beach gear before booking.

Choose a coast by the day you want

Cocoa Beach on the Space Coast is one option for an Atlantic beach outing. Compare the exact beach access, parking and nearby facilities before choosing where to spend the day. For a more natural coastal setting, look at Canaveral National Seashore and read the National Park Service’s current alerts and access information.

A beach town and a protected seashore offer different days. One may suit a lunch stop and shops; the other calls for more preparation around supplies and available facilities. Check the details for the specific access point rather than assuming every stretch of coast has showers, food and lifeguards.

Check current arrangements with the Space Coast tourism beach guide. Operational information can change.

Treat it as a day trip

Reunion is an inland base. Check a live route to the actual parking destination and allow for the return journey before booking a dinner or transfer that evening. Keep beach conditions and weather in the decision, not just sunshine at the vacation home. A flexible day in the itinerary gives you more room to choose suitable conditions.
